Autumn Equinox Jessica Scott-PetersenAcrylic, pastel, fibre 900 x 600mm Autumn Equinox was built upon a solid skeleton sketch in black oil pastel, bringing together four landscape views, one from each cardinal direction around her home in Onaero. Over many months, layers of thinned, transparent glazes were slowly applied to develop the final painting. Greens, browns, and black ground the work, speaking to the land, while orange evokes sunrises, sunsets, and the rich, burned russet tones
